Storyline:


Ajami (Arabic: عجمي‎; Hebrew: עג'מי‎) is a Arab/Jewish collaboration drama movie released in 2009. Its plot is set in the Ajami neighborhood of Jaffa. It stars Fouad Habash, Nisrine Rihan and Elias Saba.

Ajami is an place of Jaffa where Arabs, Palestinians, Jewish people and Honest try to stay together in an environment that is to say the least power. Omar, an Israeli Arabic, battles to preserve his household from reduction by a range of extortionists. He also legal courts a wonderful Religious lady, Hadir, but getting married to her is far from apparent. Malek, an unlawful Palestinian employee, efforts to gather enough cash to pay for his mom's function. Dando, an Israeli cop, does his highest to find his losing sibling who may have been murdered by Palestinians. Binj, Malek and Omar's Arabic companion, is affected with being denied by other associates of his group for preparing with an Israeli lady. All of them will fulfill assault, most of enough time with assault.

In Israel Ajami won the Ophir Award for Best Film, defeating Golden Lion Award-winner Lebanon. It has been compared to Pier Paolo Pasolini's early movies, and to more recent crime films such as City of God and Gomorra.

Ajami was the first predominantly Arabic-language movie submitted by Israel for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and it was nominated for the award. It lost to El secreto de sus ojos (Argentina). It was the third year in a row that an Israeli movie was nominated for an Academy Award.
